  Cedrus libani 


This cedar also grows to about 40 m. It has a distinctive flattened-round shape and wide branches with flattened foliage. Similar to the Atlas cedar, the cedar of Lebanon came from the mountains of Lebanon and Turkey in the eastern Mediterranean and was planted in Southern Europe as an ornamental tree.

Leaves. 2-3 mm, dark green, growing in tufts of 10-20 short spurs.

Bark. smooth and dark gray; cracked and scaled with age. The base of the trunk is often buttressed.
