This is a tall, strong-smelling (some say unpleasant) biennial or perennial.

Flowers. May-Jul.

Size. med-tall

Flower Blossom. 30 mm. The flowers are lilac, as shown in our photo, or very pale blue, about 30 mm long. The lilac or whitish bracts are oval or heart-shaped and longer than the calyces.

Leaves. The leaves are a broad heart shape or oval and toothed; the lower leaves on long stalks.

Habitat. Rocky and grassy areas, roadsides and scrub.
