  Aquilegia atrata   Family: Ranunculaceae (Buttercup)

A branched, hairy perennial. More hairy on top than the Aquilegia vulgaris.

Flowers. May-Jul.

Size. 120 cm (tall)

Flower Blossom. 3-4 cm. Dark purple-violet. The flower has a clearly protuding stamen with yellow tips.

Leaves. Hairless on the back sides.

Habitat. Chalk soil. Forest clearings, brush, rocks. We found ours at 900 m altitude in a forest clearing near a river.

Altitude. 2000 max

Fruit. Sticky and hairy.
