Also called the Common Lavender, this is a strongly aromatic, grey-hairy shrub that grows to about 1 m, and is widely cultivated for its oil (see Lavender).

June-Aug.
Size.
100 cm (tall)
Flower Blossom.
10-12 mm. The bluish-purple flowers are 10-12 mm long, usually on the upper part of 20-80 mm stalked spikes.
Leaves.
The leaves are linear to lanceolate, smooth-edged (untoothed), and often whitish when young.
Habitat.
maquis, garrigue, cultivated fields, roadsides, rocky areas and stony fields.
