This is a short to medium annual, usually branched above.

Flowers. May-Jul.

Size. 10-60 cm (short-med)

Flower Blossom. 40-50 mm. From bright blue to very pale blue, and very rarely whitish.

Leaves. The leaves have slender linear divisions, and the top leaves just below the flower are swirled.

Habitat. Fields, roadsides, rocky or waste ground. Often cultivated in gardens, where varieties have pink, purple and white flowers as well.

Fruit. Inflated white bladders, with edible seeds.
