This squill is a medium-to-tall perennial, growing to about 80 cm. The flowers grow in a bunch on the end of a long tapered spike-like racime.

Size.
80 cm (tall)
Flower Blossom.
10-20 mm. Small violet-blue flowers, 10-20 mm, grow in a bunch of up to 150; up to 80 cm high. The bracts, if any, are only up to 1.5 mm long (different from S. peruviana).
Leaves.
The leaves are distinctive for the S. hyacinthoides; 8-12 linear-long leaves, only 15-30 mm wide, grow from the base of the plant.
Habitat.
Rocky areas, hedgerows and dry fields.
