Synonyms: Synonyms: herbe aux anges; herbe du Saint-Esprit
Angelic has a faint anis flavor, and is rarely used today. The plant grows to about 2 m high, and has leaves resembling celery.
Cooking
Angelic was used occasionally in a milk soup and sometimes as flavoring for cakes. The dried leaves can also be used to make an infusion.
Medicinal
The herb angelic was said to have been brought to man by the archangel Gabriel as a cure for the plague. The roots of the plant had to be chewed for this, and the taste was strong enough to reject just about everything except for the plague.
