The Prieuré de Salagon, on the plains just south of Mane, is located on a 2000-year-old Gallo-Roman site. The Benedictine prieuré includes a 12th-century Romanesque church and other good, solid buildings added for agricultural use during the 16th to 19th centuries.
The Conservatoire du Patrimoine Ethnologique de Haute-Provence, at the Prieuré de Salagon, is an ethnological museum, a research center, and an exhibition center. The themes of the museum are History and Everyday Life. The collection of old tools includes the blacksmith's forge from Lourmarin.
Botanical Gardens
The ethno-botanical gardens present some beautiful flowers and aromatic plants from a region famous for them, and the medieval garden shows you what was growing here "way back then". A "simple" garden contains medicinal plants that have always been used in the southern Alps and Haute-Provence. An aromatic garden has a beautiful layout of plants, including lavender, sage and Umbelliferae.
