Bicycle Renting
In addition to the shop addresses listed below, bikes can often be rented from the SNCF (railway stations), but the cost is fairly high and the quality can be poor. The Office de Tourisme in many towns can also direct you bike rentals. Many of these bike shops also handle scooters and small motorcycles as well as bicycles.
Bicycle (Velo) or Motorcycle (Moto)
Our lists on the following pages were accumulated over the past few years from various sources, including the French Minitel, brochures from different Offices de Tourisme, our own observations and reader feedback. We update the lists as we get new information, but we don't verify the whole list, and so can't be sure if any particular shop is still in business or is at the same address.
If the name includes Velo, VTT or Sport, the shop probably handles bicycles. If the name includes Moto, it obviously handles motorcycles, and possibly scooters as well. Deux Roues (2 wheels) and Cycles (bikes) could be either or both. Let us know from your experiences and we'll add the information here.
