Arles - Camargue [map E1]
Arles is the best base for visiting the Camargue, with the Musée Camarguais, the Ornithological Park of Pont de Grau and the seaside village of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer with the Gypsy gathering every May.
There are day-trips to the southeast to visit the villages around the Etang de Berre, including St. Chamas, Istres, and the "Venice of Provence" Martigues.
