Borrèze is a small village in the Borrèze valley, a wide spot on the road between Souillac and Salignac-Eyvigues in the Dordogne (24) department. It's a good place for a café, or even a lunch, stop and merits the time to wander through the old village streets.

The old village streets are an interesting diversion, and more extensive that it would seem from the main road as you're passing through. There are a number of the region's picturesque pigeonniers (dovecotes) in the village, from the tall refurbished tower versions on the main houses (like the stubby white tower on the house in our photo, above) to weathered old wooden structures barely hanging together.
A café stop here made us regret the timing, as the lunch menu was mouth-watering, and inexpensive.
History
The village name came from the combining, in the 16th century, of the joining communes of La Bor and Eze.
Borrèze's gothic church was built in the 13th century, and rebuilt in the 16th.
