La Roque-Gageac is a very picturesque village stretched along the banks of the Dordogne, with a layer of stone houses, chateaux, church and troglodyte dwellings up against the vertical cliffs.

You can visit the village and its Medieval sites, take boat trips up and down the Dordogne from the front of the village, and rent kayaks for leisure boating of the river.
The finest view of La Roque-Gageac is from the opposite bank of the Dordogne. One option is to rent a kayak and have a picnic lunch on the opposite bank, or drive around and out to the tiny village of St Julien.
